As a cinephile who has spent countless hours immersed in the magical world of South Cinema, I can confidently say that Lokesh Kanagaraj is a true visionary. His unique ability to weave captivating stories around the iconic figures of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan is nothing short of genius.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but marvel at the colossal influence of two cinematic titans – Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. They are the unshakable pillars that have defined South Cinema, and it takes a visionary filmmaker like Lokesh Kanagaraj to craft timeless films with these legends. While Vikram, the Ulaganayagan’s masterpiece, continues to captivate audiences, we eagerly await the release of Coolie, starring none other than Thalaiva Rajinikanth. And just recently, Lokesh openly expressed his deep-seated admiration for these two superstars, which only adds to my anticipation for their upcoming collaboration.
At a recent gathering, Lokesh Kanagaraj openly declared himself an ardent admirer of Kamal Haasan. However, he also sparked excitement among fans about his forthcoming movie “Coolie” starring Rajinikanth. He expressed, “I merely want to demonstrate what an enthusiastic Kamal Haasan fan is capable of with a film featuring Rajinikanth.
One of the most highly anticipated Tamil action thrillers, titled “Coolie,” starring Rajinikanth as the protagonist, is being developed by filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj. This marks their first collaboration together, and there’s a lot of excitement surrounding it due to the expectation that the movie will be an instant blockbuster upon its release.
In addition to Thalaiva, this movie features several well-known stars such as Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Shoubin Shahir, Upendra, and numerous others.
Reflecting on the past, Lokesh Kanagaraj ran into Rajinikanth during the production of Master in 2019. As a budding director, he presented a script to the star, who was intrigued and agreed to the project, making it his potential 169th film. Unfortunately, things didn’t turn out as planned for Lokesh, and Rajinikanth opted for the movie Jailer instead, continuing in the same line of work.
Contrarily, Lokesh and Kamal Haasan had teamed up before in the 2022 film “Vikram”, a production that remains one of the most successful under Lokesh Cinematic Universe’s banner.
