Logitech G515 Rapid TKL keyboard review: Smooth magnetism

I’ve been testing Logitech’s G515 Rapid TKL keyboard – their latest low-profile model – for both work and gaming over the last few weeks. It’s not only improved the look of my desk, but it’s also been a pleasure to use, whether I’m writing or playing fast-paced games.

Sweet switches

The biggest difference with this keyboard, for me, was the feel of the keys. I’m used to traditional, clicky mechanical keyboards, but this one uses magnetic switches and thinner keycaps. It creates a really nice typing experience, even though it’s much quieter. That’s actually intentional – anyone who lives with others will likely appreciate a keyboard that doesn’t make a lot of noise.

The G515 Rapid TKL performed exceptionally well during gaming. Because games demand fast and accurate actions, the keyboard’s quick magnetic switches let me move and react precisely. For example, in Valorant, I found it easier to quickly strafe, switch weapons, and use abilities. In a competitive shooter like that, even a small edge can make a difference, and this keyboard felt responsive enough to keep up. Plus, you can adjust how sensitive the keys are to get exactly the feel you want.

Look good, feel good

I readily admit I appreciate accessories and tech that are both functional and visually appealing. The G515 keyboard is a beautiful addition to my desk. Its white finish creates a nice contrast with the colorful RGB lighting, and the dark gray WASD keys are a playful detail that highlights its gaming focus.

Let me tell you, a white keyboard shows dirt easily. I found myself constantly cleaning up hairs, crumbs, and dust. How much this bothers you will depend on your environment and how tidy you like things. Just so you know, this keyboard also comes in black, which might be a better choice if you’re worried about keeping it clean.

I noticed something odd while looking at my keyboard lights: keys with a lot of text on them, like Shift and Home, didn’t light up as brightly as the others with Logitech’s Lightsync RGB system. It’s not immediately obvious, but you can see the difference when you’re sitting and looking down at the keyboard.

A unified experience

Logitech devices work best with the G Hub software. This app is where you customize your keyboard, changing key functions and lighting. You can even fine-tune each individual key’s settings, including how sensitive it is and its RGB color.

G Hub lets you create personalized keyboard setups, or profiles. You can switch between these profiles yourself, or have them automatically change when you launch a specific game or application. I tested this by creating custom profiles for my favorite games, and it worked as expected, adjusting the keyboard settings accordingly. However, this feature isn’t always reliable and can sometimes have problems depending on the software you’re using and how your display is configured.

The Logitech G515 Rapid TKL is a fantastic keyboard that’s both a pleasure to type on and beautiful to look at. It’s amazing how much high-end technology they’ve fit into such a slim, steel body. It’s significantly improved my computer setup, and I doubt I’ll ever go back to a standard mechanical keyboard.
