LittleBigPlanet 3 & DLC to be delisted from PlayStation by end of October

As a long-time fan of the LittleBigPlanet series, this news about LittleBigPlanet 3 being delisted from the PlayStation Store by the end of October has left me feeling like Sackboy lost his bounce! I’ve spent countless hours creating and playing on user-generated levels, and it’s a bittersweet pill to swallow that this creative platforming gem will no longer be available for new players.

Sony Interactive Entertainment and the creators of Sackboy have announced that as of the end of this month, LittleBigPlanet 3 and all its downloadable content (DLC) will no longer be available for purchase on the PlayStation Store or network. However, if you already own LittleBigPlanet 3, you can still play both the main game and its DLC after delisting. But, starting from October’s end, it won’t be possible to buy new digital copies of the game on the store.

This week, a notice was shared on LittleBigPlanet 3’s social media platform indicating that the game along with its additional content will be taken down from PlayStation Network on October 31, 2024. The reason behind this removal isn’t clear, but the post does confirm that those who purchase the game before it gets removed can retain ownership and continue enjoying it after that date.

An important update on LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS4) and LittleBigPlanet DLC on the PlayStation Store:

In 2014, LittleBigPlanet 3 was released on both PS3 and PS4 platforms. Known for its enjoyable platforming gameplay and creative toolkit, the game received positive feedback, albeit with critics noting its adherence to the traditional LittleBigPlanet structure as slightly repetitive. Over the past decade, users have had the freedom to design numerous entertaining user-generated levels. As of now, there’s no clear indication about the future of these user-created levels or their servers, but it appears they will remain active following its delisting for the time being.

I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment as LittleBigPlanet 3 seems to be fading away. If you haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing this game yet, I strongly recommend grabbing a copy on PSN before the month is out.
