In the initial two episodes of “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman,” there are nods to and appearances by well-known characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), notably The Avengers. Consequently, viewers have expressed keen interest in the various versions of these prominent MCU figures that appear within the series. This fresh spin on “Spiderman” presents fans with a unique perspective, as it follows Peter Parker discovering and mastering his powers while being mentored by Norman Osborn on his path to becoming a superhero.
In this show, we’ve seen or heard mentions of various Marvel Cinematic Universe hero versions that have appeared alongside your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man up until now.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’s MCU variants listed
In this series, you’ll find references and appearances by all the Marvel Cinematic Universe superheroes associated with Spider-Man from Your Friendly Neighborhood.
Doctor Strange cameo
In the opening episode, Doctor Strange briefly appears and engages in combat with a beast resembling Venom. This brief appearance subtly references his character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch. The connection to his MCU persona is emphasized through the inclusion of a signature melody composed by Michael Giacchino, who is well-known for his work in the Marvel universe. This recognizable theme plays during Doctor Strange’s fight against the Venom-like creature.
Tony Stark’s arc reactor
In the initial episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, there are two mentions of Iron Man, who is Peter Parker’s character from the MCU. The first reference is found in a self-powered battery that Peter and Dr. Carla Connors are developing, which shares a similarity with Iron Man’s well-known arc reactor. The second nod to Iron Man can be seen in Aunt May’s car ornament, which takes the shape of the Iron Man suit.
Nothing Gets By You, Hawkeye
At the start of Peter’s internship at Oscorp, his supervisor, Dr. Bentley Wittman, makes a playful comparison to Jeremy Renner’s character, Hawkeye. He does this by jokingly saying “You’ve got eyes like Hawkeye – nothing escapes you,” after Peter fails to insert a slide in the microscope and claims he couldn’t see anything.
Captain America knows Norman Osborn
In Episode 2, as Peter Parker is called into Norman Osborn’s office, a photograph featuring Osborn alongside Captain America is displayed. The friendly poses both characters assume in the picture hint at potential collaboration on some joint endeavor.
The Avengers Tower
In the initial scene of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, although The Avengers themselves are absent, the iconic Avengers Tower can be spotted in the backdrop.
Daredevil appears later
As a devoted comic book fan, I’ve been eagerly waiting for the moment when Daredevil would swing by in my favorite series, Spider-Man: Friendly Neighborhood. It’s not happened yet, but rumor has it that he’ll make his appearance in an upcoming episode – the sixth one, titled “Duel with the Devil.” And here’s something truly exciting for us fans, Charlie Cox, who played Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be lending his voice to the character.
