As a hardcore Bollywood fan, I have been following the journey of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan since their early days in cinema. Their love story is not just limited to the silver screen but has also touched our hearts through their films. I still remember watching them together for the first time in Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke, a love triangle that left us all intrigued.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan are beloved Bollywood pair with a relationship spanning nearly 17 years, having married in 2007. Prior to their union, they starred in numerous movies together that continue to captivate fans. Their collaborations include “Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke” and “Dhoom 2,” among others. Although they haven’t worked on a project recently, the following is a compilation of their films.
Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachhan first worked together in the 2000 film “Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke.” This movie tells an unusual love story with Sonali Bendre also playing a role. The narrative centers around Karan, who harbors affection for Nisha. However, while portraying a married man to Sahiba, he unexpectedly fell in love with her. Directed by Raj Kanwar, it’s a re-imagining of the 2005 Hollywood production “A Walk In The Clouds.”
Kuch Naa Kaho
In the year 2003, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachhan made a comeback to films as an impressive duo in “Kuch Naa Kaho.” Alongside Arbaaz Khan, this movie tells the tale of Raj and Namrata. Initially, Raj’s father is on the lookout for a bride for his son but Raj himself remains unwilling to wed. Eventually, he develops feelings for Namrata during this search. Although their love story appears straightforward, it unravels that Namrata is already married, with her husband having abandoned her before the birth of their firstborn child. Rohan Sippy helmed the production, which garnered numerous accolades.
Bunty Aur Babli
I was totally engrossed in the movie “Bunty Aur Babli” back in 2005, where Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji played the lead roles. But guess what? In one of the most iconic dance numbers, Kajra Re, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan joined us on screen. That number is still one of my all-time favorites in Bollywood and often plays on my music playlist. Aishwarya’s dance moves were simply enchanting, while Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan nailed the choreography. The film was a commercial success under Shaad Ali’s direction and produced by Aditya Chopra.
Dhoom 2
Abhishek Bachchan once again took on the character of ACP Jai Dixit in the 2006 action movie “Dhoom 2.” In this box office success, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan did not share the screen as a pair, yet left audiences impressed with their individual acts. The narrative centers around a master thief who attempts to rob the most secure locations globally. He discovers an accomplice in Sunehri, but later finds she’s secretly working with the law enforcement. Uday Chopra, Bipasha Basu, and Rimi Sen joined Abhishek in this thrilling action tale.
Umrao Jaan
In 2006, the period drama “Umrao Jaan” hit the screens with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan in the starring roles. This film is an adaptation of the Urdu novel “Umrao Jaan Ada,” telling the poignant tale of a courtesan named Umrao Jaan. The narrative explores her deep-rooted emotions, making for a compelling watch. Supporting the leads were Suniel Shetty, Shabana Azmi, Divya Dutta, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda.
Guru
I was blown away by Mani Ratnam’s 2007 masterpiece, where I followed an ordinary man’s (Abhishek Bachchan) transformative journey into a business tycoon. The setting took me back to the 1950s. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan brought his beloved wife to life, and their romantic tale continues to capture our hearts. This cinematic gem was released in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi languages, and AR Rahman’s enchanting music added an extra layer of brilliance.
Sarkar Raj
Back in 2007, after tying the knot with Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and I teamed up for “Sarkar Raj.” It was our first joint project post-wedding. Noteworthy mentions go to the esteemed Amitabh Bachchan, who graced the screen alongside us. The narrative focuses on Sarkar, my character, who initially resists an offer from a CEO to set up a power plant in a village. However, my son Shankar manages to change my mind. Yet, things take a dramatic turn for the worse as the project spirals into a political tempest. At the helm of this gripping tale was Ram Gopal Varma. “Sarkar Raj” went on to become a massive hit in India.
Raavan
In the 2010 film, Mani Ratnam collaborated with the couple once more. The plot centers around a bandit who abducts an officer’s wife. Unexpectedly, they develop feelings for each other, leading him to release her. However, her husband exploits this situation to track down the bandit and seek retribution. In this production, Vikram assumes the role of the primary antagonist, while Prithviraj Sukumaran, Karthik, Priyamani, among others, depict secondary characters.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan last acted in the film “Raavan” together before Aishwarya took a break from acting following the birth of their daughter. Despite this hiatus, they continue to be supportive of each other’s projects.
