As a long-time Disney fan who grew up with Lilo & Stitch, I must say that the recent teaser trailer for this live-action remake has me feeling all kinds of nostalgic! With memories of watching the original movie countless times as a kid, it’s both exciting and nerve-wracking to see my favorite Hawaiian alien and his human friend come to life on screen.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super excited to share that I’ve just caught wind of the teaser for the upcoming live-action version of the timeless 2002 animated gem, Lilo & Stitch! This much-loved classic is set to make its grand return to the big screen on May 23, 2025. Can’t wait to see it unfold!
According to the given synopsis, Lilo & Stitch presents as a hilariously heartwarming tale about a solitary Hawaiian girl and an escaped alien, both working together to heal their fractured families. This movie is helmed by Dean Fleischer Camp, who is famously known for directing “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On.
What happens in the Lilo & Stitch teaser trailer?
In a nod to the famous Disney castle, the opening scene of the teaser showcases an identical sandcastle. Suddenly, mischievous Stitch appears, intending to wreck it. The trailer concludes by announcing that the movie will hit theaters on Memorial Day, 2025.
Following the unveiling of the latest poster, we now have a sneak peek at the upcoming live-action version of the adored blue-skinned extraterrestrial, as indicated by the recent trailer release.

The animated film Lilo & Stitch features Maia Kealoha portraying Lilo Pelekai, Sydney Elizebeth Agudong playing Nani Pelekai, Kaipo Dudoit acting as David Kawena, Amy Hill taking on the role of Tūtū, and Tia Carrere as Mrs. Kekoa. Additionally, Courtney B. Vance is cast as Cobra Bubbles, among other talented actors.
In this new undertaking, Chris Sanders takes on the role of Stitch’s voice, while Zach Galifianakis lends his voice to Dr. Jumba Jookiba. Billy Magnussen steps in for Agent Pleakley’s part, and Hannah Waddingham is cast as The Grand Councilwoman.
Sanders has previously lent his voice to characters within the Lilo & Stitch series, having been featured in shows like Lilo & Stitch: The Series, as well as movies such as Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch (2005) and Leroy & Stitch (2006).
Chris Kekaniokalani Bright is responsible for writing our forthcoming feature, while it is being produced by both Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin. The executive producers for this project are Louie Provost, Tom Peitzman, and Ryan Halprin.
Lilo & Stitch represents Disney’s recent endeavor to bring their timeless tales to life on screen through live-action adaptations, a trend that started with Alice in Wonderland (2010), Cinderella (2015), The Jungle Book (2016), Beauty and the Beast (2017), Dumbo (2019), Aladdin (2019), The Lion King (2019), The Little Mermaid (2023) among others.
