As a devoted fan of Disney classics, I’ve grown up with Lilo and Stitch being a significant part of my childhood memories. The announcement of the live-action remake has me absolutely stoked! Having lived near Hawaii for most of my life, I can only imagine how breathtaking the film will look with its stunning backdrop.
Disney has shared a fresh glimpse of their live-action adaptation of the beloved duo, Lilo & Stitch, showcasing an adorable and soft-textured depiction of Stitch in a sneak peek at the forthcoming film.
The image comes courtesy of Disney’s ongoing D23 Brazil event, from a presentation for their upcoming slate of projects. The image sees Stitch standing on a bed with a lei around his neck.

Previously, it was made known by Walt Disney Pictures that the live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch will hit US theaters on May 23, 2025. This scheduled release date coincides with the eighth as yet unnamed film in the Mission: Impossible series.
What do we know about the Lilo & Stitch live-action remake?
In the movie, Maia Kealoha takes on the role of Lilo, Sydney Agudong portrays Nani, Kaipo Dudoit acts as David, Tia Carrere is cast as Mrs. Kekoa, Courtney B. Vance is Cobra Bubbles, Amy Hill plays the part of Tūtū, and Jason Scott Lee assumes the role of a luau supervisor.
Simultaneously, Chris Sanders is voicing Stitch, Zach Galifianakis takes on the role of Dr. Jumba, and Billy Magnussen plays Agent Pleakley in this production.
The narrative centers around a girl named Lilo, who lives in Hawaii, and her friendship with Stitch, an alien resembling a dog, created to cause chaos. Despite intrusive social workers and chasing aliens, they develop a strong bond based on their shared sense of family and ultimately triumph.” – as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

In the original 2002 film, Chris Kekaniokalani Bright authored the script, but it was Sanders and Dean DeBlois who penned and directed the screenplay. Interestingly, Sanders provided the voice for the character in the initial movie as well as various other projects like Lilo & Stitch: The Series, Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch from 2005, and Leroy & Stitch from 2006.
