Disney hinted at the possibility of future live-action sequels for the beloved movie “Lilo & Stitch” before its upcoming release.
What did Disney say about Lilo & Stitch 2?
In a conversation with the Wall Street Journal, Disney Entertainment’s Co-Chairman Alan Bergman hinted at potential upcoming movies. Given that the film is predicted to gross over $150 million in the U.S. and Canada upon release, Bergman remarked that it seems as though fans are eagerly anticipating more content.
Bergman remarked, “I have a strong feeling it will perform exceptionally, and this type of asset seems to be versatile enough for further developments.
Lilo & Stitch’s live-action adaptation is set to premiere in theaters on May 23, 2025.
In the movie, I step into the shoes of Lilo, while Sydney Agudong takes on the role of my caring older sister Nani. Kaipo Dudoit plays David, Tia Carrere becomes Mrs. Kekoa, Courtney B. Vance transforms into Cobra Bubbles, and Amy Hill brings Tūtū to life. Meanwhile, Jason Scott Lee assumes the role of a manager at a luau. The voice cast includes Sanders as Stitch, Zach Galifianakis as the eccentric Dr. Jumba, and Billy Magnussen as Agent Pleakley.
The synopsis describes a modern adaptation of the 2002 Disney animated film ‘Lilo & Stitch’ as an amusingly heartwarming tale about a solitary Hawaiian child and the runaway extraterrestrial who assists in healing her fractured family.

In the 2002 film, Chris Kekaniokalani Bright penned the script, whereas Sanders and DeBlois were responsible for writing and directing the screenplay. Notably, Sanders provided the voice for the character in the original movie as well as various spin-offs such as Lilo & Stitch: The Series, Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch from 2005, and Leroy & Stitch in 2006.
