As a dedicated fan of the Life is Strange series, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming adventure, Life is Strange: Double Exposure! The thought of Max Caulfield wielding not one, but two time-altering abilities is absolutely mind-boggling, and I can’t wait to get my hands on this game.
Max Caulfield’s time-travel skills are receiving an upgrade, as demonstrated in the latest video of Life is Strange: Double Exposure, unveiled by Deck Nine and Square Enix.
How does Max’s new powers affect Life is Strange: Double Exposure gameplay?
In the game Life is Strange from 2015, Max Caulfield was only able to rewind time within a single timeline. However, in the new installment, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, Max now possesses the abilities to use Pulse and move between two distinct timelines.
With Pulse, Max has the ability to glance into an alternate time stream in real-time, showing her the variations as spectral reflections. These reflections impact individuals and items, enabling her to clearly perceive what lies ahead prior to transitioning into a different time stream.
By employing Pulse, Max will detect instances where the boundaries between dimensions are most fragile, enabling him to actually move between these alternate realities. This ability can be applied to solve mysteries or assist Max in his investigations. A demonstration in the video depicts Max utilizing her Shift ability to acquire a wrench for Moses, which he lacks in the present reality but had in another.
Managing every timeline could be challenging. Misremembering certain details might influence the story, as demonstrated in the video when conversing with a character named Loretta. Players who need some assistance can adjust the options and activate a UI marker that signals the current timeline at all times. Furthermore, in-game hints are provided to help players stay oriented.
In Life is Strange: Double Exposure, Max Caulfield’s dear friend Safi meets a tragic end. When Max tries to reverse time, she creates a portal into an alternate reality where Safi remains alive. However, her friend continues to face danger, as the murderer prepares to repeat the crime in both realities. To unravel and prevent this repeated murder, Max navigates between the two timelines.
