Leonardo DiCaprio-Led One Battle After Another Release Date Delayed

The scheduled premiere date for Paul Thomas Anderson’s adventure crime thriller titled One Battle After Another, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, has been moved forward by about a month from its original release date on August 8, 2025.

One Battle After Another starring Leonardo DiCaprio pushed to September 2025

Warner Bros. has changed the release date for Leonardo DiCaprio’s film “One Battle After Another,” previously set to debut on September 16, 2025. Initially, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s monster musical “The Bride,” starring Jessie Buckley as Frankenstein’s bride and Christian Bale as the Frankenstein’s monster, was scheduled for release around that time. However, “The Bride” will now be released on March 6, 2026 instead.

Delaying the release might prove advantageous for “One Battle After Another,” as it’s now scheduled for a worldwide IMAX premiere. This additional time also allows the studios to install Vista Vision projection systems in theaters, ensuring an optimal viewing experience.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s sources, a potential disadvantage of the delay could be that the movie might miss its chance to have its global debut at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, scheduled from May 13, 2025, to May 24, 2025. But, the September 16 theater release date leaves room for the filmmakers to possibly showcase it in Venice or Toronto instead.

Apart from Leonardo DiCaprio, the team also features Regina Hall, Sean Penn, Alana Haim, Wood Harris, and Benicio del Toro. The screenplay was written by Anderson, with Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel “Vineland” providing the basis for inspiration. The synopsis of the movie goes like this: “Upon the reemergence of their long-time adversary after 16 years, a group of former revolutionaries join forces once again to save the daughter of one of their comrades.

Notably, Anderson’s 2014 feature, Inherent Vice, was also based on a book by Pynchon.

Various sources have provided varying cost estimates for the production of One Battle After Another, but each estimate exceeds $100 million, making it director Wes Anderson’s costliest film project yet.
