The future involvement of Leonardo DiCaprio in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 2” is uncertain, as recent reports suggest that contract negotiations between DiCaprio and Netflix over payment have hit an impasse, delaying the project.
As reported by Jeff Sneider on his latest podcast episode The Hot Mic, Leonardo DiCaprio continues to discuss terms for the upcoming film. However, it seems that he may be taking a little longer to make a decision due to negotiations over his salary for the project.
Generally, it’s reported that DiCaprio earns between $20-$25 million for a typical role in a film. According to Sneider, he’s heard rumors that DiCaprio was offered $3 million just for one day of shooting on this project. Although no formal confirmation has been made, Sneider speculates that DiCaprio and Netflix will eventually reach a deal where DiCaprio will receive around $4 million to star in the movie.
What do we know about Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 2?
As reported by The Playlist, David Fincher and Brad Pitt are set to collaborate once again on a follow-up to Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 comedy-drama. In this new project, Pitt will reprise his character, Cliff Booth, the stuntman. Additionally, it is rumored that this Netflix production may attract even more high-profile actors to join the cast.
As per a different update by The InSneider’s Jeff Sneider, it appears that Leonardo DiCaprio, who previously worked with Pitt in the initial movie, is discussing potential roles with Pitt, Fincher, and could once again play Rick Dalton.
According to The Playlist’s analysis, the film seems to have a vibe similar to a Cliff Booth production. However, there’s a chance Leonardo DiCaprio’s character might make a brief appearance or take on a smaller role. Regarding Margot Robbie, who portrayed Sharon Tate, the report suggests she could be involved in the project if director Fincher reaches out to her.
Regarding the making of this movie, The Playlist points out that Quentin Tarantino personally wrote the script and it developed from his earlier script for The Movie Critic (which was said to involve Brad Pitt as Booth). Additionally, Tarantino has an exclusive agreement with Sony Pictures for various aspects of Once Upon a Time.
