What happens in the new One Battle After Another teaser trailer?

In the latest sneak peek for One Battle After Another, reminiscent of Star Wars, Benicio del Toro’s character exclaims, “May the force be with you!”, following closely behind a scene where Bob leaps from his vehicle. Additionally, there’s a hint that we might be witnessing World War 3, and an emphasis is placed on a young character who could play a significant role in the storyline.

In addition to the main characters, you’ll find actors like Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti, Wood Harris, and Alana Haim in One Battle After Another.

Anderson collaborates with Adam Somner and Sara Murphy in making the film, while Will Weiske takes on the role of executive producer.

As a gamer, I’d say the movie seems to have drawn some inspiration from Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel, Vineland. In this story, set in a world reminiscent of George Orwell’s 1984, the characters Zoyd Wheeler and his daughter Prairie embark on a journey to find Prairie’s missing mother – a radical from the ’60s who abandoned them with a drug dealer. Vineland is classic Pynchon, filled with symbolic characters, complex, unresolved subplots, catchy tunes like ‘Floozy with an Uzi’, parodies of films such as Pee-wee Herman in The Robert Musil Story, and steamy scenes (including a testosterone-fueled spin on the iconic sports car love scene from V.).

Before his latest film, Licorice Pizza in 2021, Anderson had previously directed movies such as Hard Eight (1996), Boogie Nights (1997), Magnolia (1999), Punch-Drunk Love (2002), There Will Be Blood (2007), The Master (2012), Inherent Vice (2014), and Phantom Thread (2017).

On September 26, 2025, “One Battle After Another” is set for release in U.S. theaters and IMAX, courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures.
