It’s being discussed that Leonardo DiCaprio might take on the part of the legendary stuntman, Evel Knievel, who is renowned for his daring feats, in an upcoming film.

What do we know about the Evel Knievel movie?

As per the latest issue of Puck’s newsletter, it’s been mentioned that Matthew Belloni highlighted a secretive discussion between DiCaprio’s manager Rick Yorn and Damien Chazelle, the director of La La Land, regarding DiCaprio potentially taking on the lead role in an upcoming Evel Knievel biopic. This movie is said to focus on Knievel’s famous Snake River jump, which happened in 1974 when he tried to soar over Idaho’s Snake River Canyon using a rocket-powered motorcycle.

According to the Puck report, Martin Scorsese, who Yorn also manages, was initially set to direct the project. However, Damien Chazelle has taken over now, and he’s working on a script penned by Terence Winter that Chazelle is currently revising. The report suggests that the film is expected to start production this summer.

1938 saw the birth of Robert Craig Knievel, famously recognized for his death-defying motorcycle stunts involving jumping ramps over diverse objects. In the ’70s, Knievel was a household name in America, making appearances on numerous TV shows and inspiring mass-produced toys. Regrettably, he passed away in 2007 at 69, following complications from diabetes.

In the coming months, DiCaprio will take on another high-profile acting role as he stars in Paul Thomas Anderson’s film “One Battle After Another”. Fresh off his collaboration with Martin Scorsese in the 2023 release “Killers of the Flower Moon”, DiCaprio is also said to be joining forces with Scorsese once more, this time on a project alongside Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt.
