Legally Blonde Prequel Photo Shows First Look at Young Elle Woods

“What, like it’s hard?”

Amazon’s Prime Video has revealed a sneak peek at Lexi Minetree portraying a younger Elle Woods for their upcoming Legally Blonde spin-off series titled “Elle“. Notably, Reese Witherspoon, who won several awards for her role as the character in 2001, originally played Elle.

In a freshly posted picture, we see a youthful Elle Woods adorned in pink, a hue that would later become synonymous with her as she pursued her law career at the esteemed Harvard Law School. This image takes us back to Elle’s past, prior to her acceptance at Harvard, and it appears she’s chatting on an old-school wired phone, reminiscent of a typical ’90s child. The series is currently being filmed.

What will Prime Video’s Legally Blonde be about?

The creators Laura Kittrell (from Insecure) and Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries) are bringing back Elle, the main character, to her high school days, showing us how she transformed into the memorable young woman we grew fond of in the original Legally Blonde film.

In an Instagram post a few months back, Witherspoon herself unveiled the cast, presenting Minetree as the younger version of the renowned character she played in 2001. “Let me introduce to you the new Elle Woods!” said the actress, after sifting through numerous impressive auditions for the upcoming Elle prequel series on [Prime Video]. “We’ve finally found our Elle,” she concluded.

In addition to Mae Whitman (Arrested Development), June Diane Raphael (Grace and Frankie) portrays Elle’s mother Eva, Tom Everett Scott (The Summer I Turned Pretty) plays Elle’s father Wyatt, Gabrielle Policano takes on the role of Liz, who is essentially the opposite of Elle Woods, Jacob Moskovitz is cast as Miles, a prominent athlete, and Chandler Kinney from Pretty Little Liars is featured as Kimberly.

In this production, Kitrell and Dries share the role of co-creators and take on the responsibilities of executive producers. Furthermore, Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky, and Marc Platt are also credited as executive producers.

Other details about Elle remain under wraps.
