As a die-hard fan of “The Walking Dead”, who has witnessed the rise and fall (and rise again) of countless characters over the years, I must say that the PaleyFest 2024 Daryl Dixon panel was an absolute treat! The reunion of Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride after three years was like a breath of fresh air, reminding me of the good old days when Rick Grimes was still around.
On October 19th, a panel discussing “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol” was held at the 2024 PaleyFest event. During this panel, moderator Josh Wigler interviewed the cast and creative team behind the spinoff series of “The Walking Dead”.
Audience members got an exclusive early look at the fourth episode of season one, a full day before its broadcast on both AMC and AMC+. Afterward, there was a detailed analysis of that episode and the entire series.
As a devoted fan, tread cautiously, for I’m about to delve into the secrets hidden in season 2 of “The Walking Dead,” focusing on the captivating storyline of Daryl Dixon, titled “The Book of Carol.
The assembly included Scott M. Gimple, the Chief Content Officer of “The Walking Dead”, its showrunner David Zabel, along with actors and executive producers Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, and Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, who is also a star in the program.
Highlights of the Daryl Dixon panel
This panel delved into various subjects, including the reunion of Reedus and McBride following their survival throughout eleven seasons of the primary series; McBride’s approach to reprising her role; shooting scenes in France as opposed to Georgia; and numerous other intriguing topics.
One of the most satisfying hours of The Walking Dead I’ve seen in years.
- Gimple began stating that he had avoided using running walkers for years, but Zabel finally broke him down, and it was terrific.
- Zabel stated this episode was a crucial turning point in the season and the show, referring to the long-awaited reunion between Carol and Daryl.
- Scigliuzzi, absent from this episode, talked about the good vibes on set and said he is always happy filming this series.
- McBride stated it was great fun reuniting with Reedus after three years.
- Gimple compared Daryl and Carol’s recent reunion to the one at Terminus (which I discuss here). He believes it is similar, but the Daryl Dixon series scene is much more emotional.
- McBride talks about Carol being a badass.
- There is also a discussion about the reasons for the recent deaths in this episode.
- Future of The Walking Dead Universe.
- Why filming for Daryl Dixon has moved to Spain.
