Lear Rex Movie Cast Adds Rachel Brosnahan, LaKeith Stanfield, Peter Dinklage, & More

As a lifelong fan of Shakespeare and a devotee of Al Pacino’s acting prowess, I must admit that the upcoming adaptation of King Lear titled “Lear Rex” has left me absolutely thrilled! The addition of an all-star cast, including Jessica Chastain, Rachel Brosnahan, Peter Dinklage, and LaKeith Stanfield, promises a cinematic experience that will be nothing short of extraordinary.

The recently announced King Lear film adaptation with Al Pacino and Jessica Chastain in the leading roles has expanded its cast, welcoming Rachel Brosnahan, LaKeith Stanfield, Peter Dinklage, among others.

Upcoming movie titled “Lear Rex” is based on the legendary play “King Lear” by William Shakespeare. This movie is both written and directed by Bernard Rose, with Barry Navidi serving as the producer.

In the latest update, Ariana DeBose from West Side Story is set to play Cordelia, while Brosnahan of Superman fame will portray Regan. Peter Dinklage, known for his role in Game of Thrones, has been cast as the Fool, and Danny Huston (The Crow) will take on Albany. Chris Messina from The Boogeyman joins as Cornwall, with Michael B. Jordan (Judas and the Black Messiah) playing Edmund. Ted Levine from The Silence of the Lambs is set for Kent, Matthew Jacobs from Vice will portray Gloucester, Rhys Coiro from Entourage takes on Oswald, and Stephen Dorff of Blade will embody Poor Tom in this new production of Lear Rex.

Pacino, meanwhile, is playing King Lear, while Chastain is playing Goneril.

What else do we know about Lear Rex?

In “Lear Rex,” an old king, finding himself on the brink of retirement, decides to divide his kingdom among his three daughters, aiming to avoid future squabbles. However, he shuns the one who adores him the most, preferring instead to rely on his malicious siblings. In the end, they betray him, stripping him of his power and condemning him to a desolate, terrifying realm filled with madness. As I play this movie, I can only imagine how it feels to be the unloved daughter watching my father’s fall from grace.

On August 12, 2024, Rex’s movie shoot kicks off in Los Angeles. The release date is still to be determined.
