Law and Order: Organized Crime isn't coming to NBC in October (or at all!)

As a die-hard fan of Law & Order: Organized Crime who’s had to juggle work, family, and sleep for far too long, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions about the show’s move from NBC to Peacock. On one hand, it’s exciting to know that Christopher Meloni and the rest of the gang will be back for another season, and Olivia Benson’s return is just the cherry on top! But on the other hand, I’m dreading the thought of having to create yet another streaming account to keep up with my favorite shows.

This fall television season seems to be returning to its regular rhythm, as numerous well-known drama and comedy series have debuted their new seasons over the last couple of weeks, with even more shows set to premiere soon. However, aficionados of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” find themselves in a less fortunate position this October, as the show will not be featured on NBC’s primetime schedule.

The crime-focused television series “Law & Order: Organized Crime” has been given the green light for a fifth season. However, instead of airing on NBC, this time it will stream exclusively on Peacock. Although we know that there will be ten fresh episodes, as of now, we don’t have a specific release date for them.

In the final episode of season 4, there was an intense, suspenseful twist as the youngest Stabler brother ended up in possession of a case containing a lethal Russian nerve gas, locked onto his own handcuffs.

We spotted him boarding the personal aircraft belonging to notorious criminal Julian Emery, leaving us unsure if his identity was exposed during the journey. In season 5, viewers are on the edge of their seats, wondering if Joe Stabler Jr. will make it through and also curious about whether Emery is privy to Joe’s correspondence with the Crime Bureau.

Although details about which actors are returning for the show haven’t been fully revealed, it has been announced by NBC that Christopher Meloni will reprise his role as Detective Elliot Stabler in Season 5, along with showrunner John Shiban. In a hint dropped on Instagram in May 2024, Meloni shared a photo slideshow suggesting the renewal, but we’re still waiting for confirmation about which characters from the picture will appear in the new season. What makes this news even more intriguing is that Meloni has also confirmed that Mariska Hargitay’s character, Olivia Benson, will be featured in the forthcoming season.

Where can you watch Law and Order: Organized Crime season 5?

With the upcoming season of “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” you can find it exclusively streaming on Peacock. Previously aired live on NBC, this change means the show will no longer air live but new episodes are expected to roll out weekly, with approximately 10 episodes in total.

It’s not unprecedented for a series to move from NBC to Peacock, and I anticipate this trend will continue in the future. While I appreciate the convenience that Peacock provides for those who can’t always watch live, it can be disconcerting when a show that has been airing consistently for four years suddenly switches its platform or schedule.

You can currently stream seasons 1-4 of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” on Peacock. Keep an eye out for announcements regarding the release of new episodes soon! In the meantime, why not catch up with the previous episodes?
