As a seasoned gamer and art enthusiast, I am absolutely thrilled by the recent news that Rafael Grassetti, the mastermind behind God of War’s stunning visuals, has joined Naughty Dog! With his rich background in creating breathtaking artwork for franchises like Mass Effect, Killzone, Infamous, and of course, God of War, I can only imagine the incredible visual feast that awaits us in Naughty Dog’s next project.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but get excited when hearing about Naughty Dog’s latest undertaking! The creators behind Uncharted and The Last of Us have just made an unexpected move by bringing on board the talented Rafael Grassetti, who has previously worked his magic on God of War, as their new art director for their upcoming game. I can hardly wait to see what they’ll come up with next!
God of War art director joins Last of Us dev
It’s been shared across social platforms that Rafael Grassetti has now become a permanent member of Naughty Dog, taking up the role of Art Director for their PlayStation exclusive studio. Previously, he has contributed his artistic skills to various franchises like Mass Effect, Killzone, Infamous, and others.
Primarily recognized for his position as Art Director at Sony Santa Monica, Grassetti has contributed significantly as an artist to both God of War 2018 and God of War Ragnarok. Following his appointment as Studio Art Director in October 2022, this game developer transitioned to Netflix to work on a fresh AAA intellectual property (IP).
Sadly, Grassetti’s term at Netflix’s newly established AAA gaming studio came to an early end because Netflix closed most of its gaming projects. Yet, not long afterwards, the skilled game artist has been formally recruited for Naughty Dog’s upcoming project.

What is Naughty Dog working on?
It remains uncertain what specific game Naughty Dog will release next. There’s chatter about a new intellectual property in a science fiction environment, but there is also anticipation for the renowned studio to focus on The Last of Us Part 3, given the franchise’s popularity following its TV series adaption.
There are whispers that the studio might be rebuilding the first Uncharted game, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, from scratch. Compared to its impressive sequels, this initial installment of the Uncharted series appears somewhat rougher and could likely benefit from some improvements.
As a gamer myself, I’ve been eagerly waiting for the news about a potential remake of one of my favorite PS3 games. With Sony recently releasing revamped versions of The Last of Us and Until Dawn, it seems like they’re on a roll with revisiting their classic titles. If Horizon Zero Dawn can get a remastered edition, I sure hope we’ll see the same treatment for this gem!
