Last of Us devs announce Intergalactic, an epic sci-fi action game for PS5

As a lifelong fan of Naughty Dog, I must say that The Game Awards 2024 was nothing short of spectacular, but it was Naughty Dog’s announcement of their upcoming title, Intergalactic, that truly stole my heart. Growing up with the Uncharted and The Last of Us series, I’ve come to expect nothing less than exceptional storytelling and immersive gameplay from this studio.

2024 saw a thrilling night at The Game Awards as it marked a decade of its ceremony, accompanied by major unveilings throughout the broadcast. Among these unveiled titles were Helldivers 2: Major Order, The Witcher IV, Borderlands 4, and surprisingly, a peculiar take on Pac-Man.

In contrast, when it came to Geoff Keighley’s “one more thing” reveal, Naughty Dog, creators of the Uncharted and The Last of Us series, outshone everyone else. They unveiled their upcoming game Intergalactic with a three-minute trailer that Geoff claimed was directly from the engine and will appear identical in the final product.

Naughty Dog’s next game Intergalactic turns you into a Bounty Hunter in space

The debut trailer for “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet,” the upcoming sci-fi epic from Naughty Dog and PlayStation, dropped just prior to the unveiling of the Game of the Year awards, where “Astro Bot” emerged victorious.

Initially, Intergalactic appeared to be reminiscent of games within the Concord universe. Yet, as the captivating visuals unfolded and a sleek spaceship, resembling a Porsche, soared through space, it transformed into something more expansive.

According to the formal summary, “The Heretic Prophet” is a fresh franchise being created by Naughty Dog, the renowned team responsible for hit series such as The Last of Us and UNCHARTED, that will be playable on the PlayStation 5 console.

In a time far beyond our own, the game Intergalactic places you as Jordan A. Mun, a formidable bounty hunter, who finds herself stranded on Sempiria – a remote planet that has been disconnected from the wider cosmos for hundreds of years. To be the first in over 600 years to escape its orbit, Jordan must rely on her abilities and intelligence.

As per Geoff’s statement, the game has been under development by Naughty Dog since 2020, with Neil Druckmann resuming his role as director following the triumph of The Last of Us series. Moreover, the original music for this game is being created by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross from Nine Inch Nails.

As a dedicated fan, I’m eagerly waiting for updates from Naughty Dog and PlayStation regarding their upcoming game. According to Geoff Keighley, we can expect some exciting news about this project in the near future, within the next few months!
