The man who brought Eric Taylor and Hal Jordan to life is now joining the cast of Netflix’s RIP, a crime thriller directed by the brilliant Joe Carnahan.
Actor Kyle Chandler, set to portray Hal Jordan in the upcoming DCU series titled “Lanterns,” has been added to the cast of the show “RIP.
The crime thriller movie “RIP” on Netflix is being helmed by director Joe Carnahan. Known for past works like “Smokin’ Aces” (2006), “The A-Team” (2010), “The Grey” (2011), and more recently “Copshop” (2021), this is one of his upcoming projects.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chandler is set to portray a Drug Enforcement Administration agent in the film titled RIP. Joining him in the movie are Ben Affleck from Justice League, Matt Damon known for Oppenheimer, Sashe Calle famous for The Flash, Néstor Carbonell of Shogun, Catalina Sandino Moreno who starred in Silent Night, and Teyana Taylor recognized from A Thousand and One.
In the latest development, Chandler has been selected to portray Hal Jordan in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe (DCU), implying he will share screen time with Aaron Pierre, who is cast as John Stewart, in the upcoming Lanterns series from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King.
Apart from his role as Chandler in the Friday Night Lights series, he has a diverse filmography that spans over a decade. Some of his notable films include “King Kong” from 2005, “Super 8” and “The Wolf of Wall Street,” both released in 2011 and 2013 respectively, “Carol” and “Manchester by the Sea” in 2015 and 2016, “Game Night”, “First Man”, “Godzilla: King of the Monsters”, and “Godzilla vs. Kong,” all appearing between 2018 and 2021. He has also been part of other film titles as well.

Set against the backdrop of a probe into the murder of one of their own, this crime thriller follows a group of Miami police officers as they stumble upon large sums of money hidden away in a dilapidated safe house. As tensions within the team start to rise, news about the vast amounts of cash spreads, placing the officers in a precarious position with serious ethical dilemmas and lethal encounters ensuing. Affleck and Damon, along with Luciana Damon and Dani Bernfeld, are all involved in producing the project titled RIP under their Artists Equity banner. Michael Joe and Kevin Halloran are serving as executive producers for Artists Equity.
