Lanterns Cast Adds The Wire Star, DCU Role Revealed

The glow from the lanterns expands as Deadline announces the addition of Paul Ben-Victor to the cast of the forthcoming HBO series.

Who is Paul Ben-Victor playing in Lanterns?

As per Deadline’s article, Ben-Victor has been cast as Antaan, an alien who is fiercely committed to revealing the truth and seeking retribution against those who harmed his kind. This character is portrayed as having a profound and unyielding resentment towards the law, which suggests that he will inevitably come into conflict with the Lanterns in some capacity.

In the Green Lantern comics, while there’s no character named Antaan, fans have speculated that this character might belong to the race known as the Oans, who are also referred to as the Guardians of the Universe. It is these Guardians who established and oversee the Green Lantern Corps from their home planet, Oa.

Fans have also proposed that this character might be another enigmatic extraterrestrial from the comics, although going by a different title. John Doman, who plays this role, gained recognition for his work on HBO’s The Wire but has also appeared in other successful productions such as Entourage, My Name is Earl, and others.

The series “Lanterns” is helmed by Aaron Pierre portraying John Stewart and Kyle Chandler playing Hal Jordan. Accompanying them, the show features Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, Kelly Macdonald as Sheriff Kerry, Jasson Ritter as Kerry’s husband, and Poorna Jagannathan joining the cast in an upcoming role as Zoe.

The production of Lanterns will be overseen by Chris Mundy, well-known for his work on True Detective: Night Country and Ozark. Additionally, Damon Lindelof, recognized for his contributions to The Leftovers and Watchmen, and Tom King, who has worked on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, will both be involved in scriptwriting for the series, with the latter two collaborating on its creation.

This series focuses on John Stewart, a new recruit, and Hal Jordan, a renowned Lantern, who are space-faring law enforcement officers. They get entangled in a mysterious murder case rooted on Earth, which takes place in the heartland of America.
