Newly unveiled photos from the “Lanterns” series offer fans a sneak peek at Aaron Pierre’s portrayal of John Stewart. Although DC Studios has begun filming for the show, they have chosen to keep most production details under wraps. Consequently, these images featuring Pierre are unexpected for eager fans, as they do not depict the character in his traditional green suit or wielding his power ring.

The most recent Lanterns update features two images from the forthcoming series, depicting Aaron Pierre looking exhausted and battle-hardened.
In a captivating twist, the images posted by @DCFilmNews show Pierre dressed in a gray ensemble resembling medical scrubs rather than his usual superhero attire. The actor is depicted without his Green Lantern ring and instead carries a pistol, suggesting a dramatic firefighting scenario.

The depiction of John Stewart matches the portrayal of the Lanterns series as we know it so far. James Gunn has previously mentioned that the show will carry a “realistic, authentic, and relatable” tone, and Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan will join forces with Pierre’s character to unravel an earthbound enigma.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that John Stewart from the comic books is depicted as a marine prior to gaining his powers. This background provides an explanation for Pierre’s appearance in the previously mentioned Green Lantern set photos.
In addition to Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre, the upcoming Green Lantern series features key characters played by Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Ulrich Thomsen, Nicole Ari Parker, Sherman Augustus, and Jason Ritter.
Furthermore, it’s been confirmed that Nathan Fillion’s character, Guy Gardner, who is set to first appear in the 2025 Superman film, will additionally be seen among the Lanterns. At present, there’s no official announcement regarding the show’s air date from HBO.
