In fact, anticipation for a second season began even before the airing of the final episode of Season 1. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Billy Bob Thornton expressed uncertainty about a potential second season, stating, “Officially, we haven’t been confirmed to have one. Shows this successful typically continue, so I can speculate that they might, but I don’t know it for certain.
Apart from expressing his thoughts on Landman Season 2, Thornton additionally voiced his perspective on the gripping coyote scene in the Season 1 finale. As shared by the seasoned actor, Tommy’s interaction with the coyote causes him to reflect deeply on his role in the narrative, comparing it to both “the cartel” and himself. In Thornton’s words, “I believe it’s a very symbolic instant for Tommy as he ponders his identity. And I think he’s essentially looking at himself, and perhaps death.
As I write this, there hasn’t been any formal announcement about Landman Season 2 yet. However, the initial season of the show has generally received positive feedback. In this series, Billy Bob Thornton portrays Tommy, a character striving to advance in a thriving oil industry. At present, Landman enjoys a high critic rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, which could potentially influence the production of Season 2.
