Among the highly awaited Malayalam productions, L2: Empuraan, is nearing its release date, and following his impressive portrayal in Malaikottai Vaaliban, Mohanlal returns to take on a leading role. The opening presentation for the film L2: Empuraan took place in Kochi, with Mohanlal joined by fellow cast members and creators. They pledged an extraordinary cinematic journey, and a poignant highlight was when the legendary Malayalam actors Mammootty and Mohanlal descended the stage hand-in-hand, symbolizing their mutual regard and admiration.
In over seven different movies, Mammootty and Mohanlal have shared the screen, and they’re set to team up once more for the film directed by Mahesh Narayanan.
Furthermore, Director Prithviraj Sukumara of L2: Empuraan surprisingly disclosed his decision not to collaborate with Rajinikanth in a project.
The director shared that Subaskaran from Lyca Productions had reached out to him earlier about directing a movie starring Rajinikanth. However, since he was only working part-time as a director, he felt unprepared to take on such a significant task at that moment. Additionally, Sukumura required the project to be completed within a specific timeframe, which conflicted with Prithviraj’s schedule, causing him to turn down the offer.
In addition, Mohanlal’s film was discussed, which is a follow-up to Lucifer released in 2019. This is the second part of the planned trilogy, and like before, many other prominent cast members will reprise their significant roles. The movie is scheduled for release in cinemas on March 27, 2025. Furthermore, Mohanlal has maintained contact with Subhaskaran, often meeting up whenever he was in London. They eventually collaborated for the film Empuraan after a considerable period.
