The Malayalam movie “Empuraan,” featuring Mohanlal in the lead role, is ready to premiere on March 27, 2025. In anticipation of its release, the film’s plot summary has been revealed, offering a fascinating interpretation of the Lucifer trilogy.
In a recent update on BookMyShow, the film’s synopsis specifies that the story takes place five years after the revelation of the Khureshi-Ab’Raam nexus. Empuraan” is a continuation of the 2019 movie called “Lucifer,” and it is the second part of a planned trilogy. In the first movie, titled “Stephen Nedumpally,” the main character Stephen found himself in the midst of political chaos, which eventually led to him revealing his true persona and the full extent of his connections.
The new movie that is coming soon has Mohanlal playing the main character, along with Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Saniya Iyappan, Saikumar, and Fazil among others in significant roles.
Interestingly, the movie was also recently announced as the first-ever Malayalam film to be released in IMAX.
Looking ahead, Mohanlal is set to appear in the lead role in Thudarum, directed by Tharun Moorthy. The movie is expected to be released in May 2025 and is touted to be a family drama. Its trailer will be attached to Empuraan’s theatrical release.
