Kyle Gass Apologizes Over Trump Assassination Joke After Jack Black Issues Statement

As a long-time fan of Tenacious D and someone who has followed their music and antics for years, I was deeply disappointed to hear about Kyle Gass’ recent insensitive remark during one of their performances in Sydney. It’s disheartening to see such a beloved duo make headlines for the wrong reasons.

Kyle Gass has expressed regret over comments he made regarding the recent assassination attempt against former President Trump, resulting in the termination of their upcoming Tenacious D concert engagements.

In an Instagram post, Gass expressed regret over his careless remark during our July 14th concert in Australia. It happened when Jack Black brought out a cake for my birthday and I made a wish aloud, “Don’t miss Trump next time,” as I blew out the candles. Looking back, I now realize how inappropriate, risky, and regrettable that comment was.

What did Kyle Gass say in his apology?

In Sydney on Sunday night, I sadly made an off-the-cuff remark that was inappropriate, risky, and a huge blunder. I want to make it clear that I do not endorse or support any form of violence whatsoever. The outcome was unfortunate, and I deeply apologize for my poor judgment. My heartfelt apologies go out to those I have let down, and I sincerely regret the harm I have caused.

After the comment, Jack Black expressed his disapproval on social media regarding Gass’s actions, leading to the cancellation of their ongoing Tenacious D tour and a halt to any future collaborations between them.

Black expressed that he strongly disapproves of hate speech and political violence. After careful consideration, he decided to cancel the remaining shows on the Tenacious D tour and put all upcoming creative projects on hold. He is thankful for the fans’ understanding and appreciation during this time.
