Kyle Chandler in Talks to Star as Lanterns Hal Jordan in DC Studios TV Series

As a longtime comic book enthusiast who’s seen more than a handful of Green Lantern adaptations, I must admit my excitement is reaching new heights! Kyle Chandler, with his gripping performances in shows like “Friday Night Lights” and “Bloodline,” seems like the perfect choice to bring Hal Jordan to life.

It’s confirmed that the character “Green Lantern: Hal Jordan” has been cast, with Deadline revealing that Kyle Chandler may take on the role in DC Studio’s upcoming live-action series.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve just learned that I’ll be stepping into the shoes of Jordan, a character that’s been buzzing around the rumor mill for quite some time now. Just recently, it was revealed that Josh Brolin passed on the opportunity, leaving the stage open for me to embrace the role.

It’s been mentioned that DC Studios is searching for an actor to portray John Stewart, too. Among the Green Lantern franchise members, Stewart and Jordan are arguably the most recognized. Ryan Reynolds portrayed Jordan in the 2011 live-action film, while Stewart has played a significant role in various animated productions. Additionally, Wayne T. Carr was originally cast as Stewart in Zack Snyder’s Justice League adaptation.

What do we know about Lanterns?

At the moment, there’s not much else known regarding Lanterns, as no additional casting details have been revealed yet. However, a separate report from THR hints that HBO might start filming from January to June of the following year, which means we can expect more updates on this project soon.

The television series titled Lanterns will be overseen by Chris Mundy (True Detective: Night Country, Ozark), Damon Lindelof (The Leftovers, Watchmen), and Tom King (Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow). Notably, Lindelof and King are also responsible for co-writing the series. This project secured an official direct-to-series order from HBO back in June 2024, approximately a year after its initial announcement in January 2023.

As a space-faring gamer, I find myself embroiled in an intriguing tale where I’m one of the protagonists, John Stewart and the legendary Hal Jordan – two cosmic enforcers. We’re drawn into a sinister earthbound enigma as we delve deep to solve a murder that’s shaken the heartland of America.
