Kunchacko Boban REACTS to Officer on Duty’s box office debacle; ‘I am willing to…’

Kunchacko Boban shone brightly in his latest crime-action-thriller, “Officer on Duty.” Initially lauded for its commercial success, the movie has recently stirred up a debate among producers who assert that it suffered significant financial losses at the box office.

In a recent chat with On Manorama, the actor has finally spoken up regarding the issue, sharing his perspective. He stated that the financial losses of the movie as reported in media aren’t fully truthful because they only account for the earnings made by the producers from theaters in Kerala, and not the overall revenue.

The amount of 11 crores stated by the association reps probably represents just the share the producer got from Kerala theaters. However, the real figure is greater than 11 crores. The numbers they provided aren’t correct or clear. If they’re going to present figures, they should be exact.

Moving forward, Kunchacko Boban further explained his thoughts regarding allegations that the distribution of films through OTT platforms and satellite broadcast has resulted in a decline in business. In response to these claims, the actor suggested that the success or failure of such deals depends on the initial agreements made between producers and their OTT or broadcast partners.

He mentioned that the producers falsely claimed they were bringing actors for guest roles but marketed them as main leads to secure better movie deals, which has since led to a loss of their credibility.

Eventually, nearing the conclusion, Boban made comments regarding allegations of financial losses faced by producers. He expressed his readiness to create movies for them at no cost, in light of the losses sustained by Officer on Duty from Kerala.

The actor stated that if the producers who are currently experiencing financial losses agree, he would work for them without charge on their films. He suggested that all earnings from Kerala theaters should go to them, but he requests a share of the revenue from overseas screenings and digital platforms like OTT and satellite. However, it seems they often fail to consider these potential income sources when discussing their financial difficulties.

For those unfamiliar, the series “Officer on Duty” started streaming on Netflix from March 20th onward.
