The Tamil comedy-drama movie named Kudumbasthan was screened in cinemas on January 24, 2025. Directed by Rajeshwar Kalisamy, it garnered favorable responses, especially for the acting skills of K Manikandan. There had been rumors about its online release, but an official announcement has finally been made.

When and where to watch Kudumbasthan

As a devoted admirer, I’d like to share the captivating tale of Kudumbasthan, which revolves around Naveen, a man standing strong for his newly formed family with Vennila, his beloved partner who is eagerly awaiting their first child together. After an impulsive elopement, they find themselves shunned by Vennila’s kin. In an effort to shield and sustain them, it falls upon Naveen to shoulder the burden alone.

One day, a disagreement with a client leads to him losing his job. To preserve the facade of stability, he chooses to conceal this hardship. In order to meet their needs and maintain appearances, he resorts to borrowing money and creating fictitious employment records.

1. Rajendran calls out his brother-in-law’s deceit, leaving him embarrassed. Naveen attempts to run a bakery business but ultimately falters because of intense competition.

2. Rajendran unmasks the lies of his brother-in-law, causing him great embarrassment. Naveen struggles and eventually shuts down his bakery due to fierce competition.

3. Rajendran publicly reveals his brother-in-law’s dishonesty, causing him humiliation. Naveen tries operating a bakery but is forced out of business because of the tough competition.

4. Rajendran uncovers and exposes his brother-in-law’s falsehoods, leaving him red-faced. Naveen endeavors to manage a bakery but succumbs to the pressure from the competitive market.

5. Rajendran brings his brother-in-law’s lies to light, making him feel ashamed. Naveen pursues opening a bakery but is unable to thrive due to high levels of competition.

While Vennila is studying for her UPSC prelims, Naveen, with no other options available, resumes his old job at the suggestion of Vennila. However, her sharp words cast a shadow over their relationship, causing him to contemplate a move to Qatar. In the heat of an argument, it’s revealed that Vennila is in labor. The family hastens to the hospital, resulting in reconciliations and forming the central plot of the movie.

Cast and crew of Kudumbasthan

The movie “Kudumbasthan” is the brainchild of director Rajeshwar Kalisamy, who also co-wrote it with Prasanna Balachandran. S. Vinoth Kumar takes on the role of producer for this production, while Sujith N. Subramaniam handles the cinematography, Kannan Balu is in charge of editing, and Vaisagh contributes the music.

The main characters are K. Manikandan playing Naveen, Guru Somasundaram as Rajendran, and R. Sundarrajan as Palanichamy, who is Naveen and Anitha’s father. Saanve Megghana acts as Vennila, Naveen’s spouse, while Kudassanad Kanakam portrays their mother. Balaji Sakthivel stars as Mohan Ram, with Nivedita Rajappan as Anitha and Saanvika Shree as her child. TSR Srinivasan plays the part of Thangamalai, the Sub-Registrar, while Varghese Mathew assumes the role of Rajendran’s superior.
