At New York Comic Con, Brolin commended Johnson’s exceptional talent as a writer and director, likening it to that of Denis Villeneuve, who directed Dune and Sicario, films in which Brolin also acted.
In both Knives Out and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, I thoroughly enjoyed the acting. However, I found myself preferring the first film. The third one seemed to have similarities with the first, giving me a sense of déjà vu. [Rian] may not appear as such, but he possesses an exceptional ability to manage his film sets. His commanding presence recalls directors like Denis and the Cohens. Moreover, he’s a talented writer. (This is according to Brolin’s interview with PEOPLE.)
In a comment regarding the Knives Out 3 screenplay, Brolin expressed, “I picked it up and thought, ‘Wow, this writing is exceptional. It’s rare to find such quality nowadays.’
Apart from Brolin and Craig, the upcoming Knives Out 3 features a star-studded cast including Jeremy Renner, Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Thomas Haden Church, Andrew Scott, Mila Kunis, Daryl McCormack, Cailee Spaeny, and Kerry Washington.
