In February 2025, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 was launched to an incredibly favorable response, garnering accolades from fans across the globe for its open-world medieval role-playing experience. It’s already among the top games of 2025, and its popularity is poised to grow as the year progresses, with Warhorse Studios continually releasing updates and additional content.
Among the exciting changes on the horizon, we’ll be unveiling a tougher play mode known as “Hardcore” in the game. This new addition will crank up the challenge level for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, which is already renowned for its difficulty, making it even more demanding for players to conquer.
Read on to learn everything we know about Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Hardcore Mode.
Hardcore Henry
In simpler terms, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 can be quite challenging when you first start playing, but as you progress and level up your character, it becomes more manageable.
This game is set up to mirror reality, implying that conflict isn’t for the faint-hearted. In this world, sickness and plague are commonplace, and flubbing a persuasion attempt might lead an entire village to attempt your lynching. So, it seems, you’re living in medieval Bohemia.
In February 2025, Warhorse Studios announced that a challenging mode called “Hardcore” would be introduced to their game by year’s end. Later in March, they provided more details about this feature and its impact on players when Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is released.
It was confirmed that Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s Hardcore Mode will:
- Remove most of the UI (except for critical elements)
- Remove the player’s icon from the game’s map so you don’t know where you are
- Lock fast travel so you need to ride or walk everywhere
- Unlock various ‘negative perks’ that alter your game dramatically
- Remove cardinal directions from the game’s compass
- Make enemies tougher
- Make debuffs like hunger and fatigue more impactful
In the original game, which came out in 2018, many of these features can be found in its Hardcore Mode. For experienced gamers, it’s worth giving a shot to play the Hardcore Mode in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
I’ll pass as I find myself less competitive when it comes to games, and I enjoy maintaining the feeling of dominance that I’ve built up over time from countless hours spent on Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
