For much of the game, it appears as though romantic feelings are absent. However, at pivotal points within the narrative and during certain side missions, our protagonist has opportunities to reveal his tender, loving side in romantic scenes.

In the game, there aren’t many instances of romance, but if you’re interested in experiencing all of them, most can be encountered during a single playthrough. However, a few of them might not be accessible at the same time due to exclusivity. If you prefer a more chaste approach, it’s possible to skip these romantic encounters entirely. Yet, the benefits gained after these scenes could make them worth exploring if you seek an in-game advantage.

Honourable Mention – Flings

One captivating engagement involves spending quality time with the enchanting healer, Klara. Sharing our mutual interest in alchemy, Henry and I might find ourselves on a romantic afternoon quest to gather some herbs for her, making for an unforgettable experience.

If you perform well as Klara’s assistant, she might present Henry with an appealing puzzle that, if solved, grants them a secluded moment in a concealed meadow, away from the castle’s curious onlookers. This situation, typically categorized as flirting, could lead to their reunion when Klara returns to the castle, assuming they can set aside their recent disagreements and find common ground once more.

Ulterior Motives?

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, most significant romances will likely be apparent throughout the main storyline. However, Margaret is an exception to this rule. Initially, you’ll encounter Margaret apparently confined within a miller’s shed. To rescue her, you’ll need to follow the trail of her distressing cries and engage in a small act of theft to free her from her predicament.

Despite her assertion that the miller was trying to harm her, further examination uncovered that she was actually a thief herself. However, before Henry could confront her about it, she had already vanished. With an abundance of nerve, you’ll encounter Margaret once more, requiring even more assistance from Henry – this time with romantic undertones as well as her usual mischievous antics thrown in for good measure.

More Than A Nobleman’s Daughter

If you can demonstrate that Henry’s academic prowess is comparable to Rosa’s, it might lead to your relationship with her deepening beyond mere friendship.

Given their pre-existing friendship from the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance, you could argue that Henry and Hans’ romance is a slow-burn for the ages. This slow-burn continues throughout the entirety of the second game with subtle chances to flirt sprinkled throughout the campaign, all leading to an eventual pay-off in the game’s final hours.

It’s a welcome surprise that the developers were daring enough to add (albeit optional) romantic implications to the core friendship that drives the narrative of the whole game. Unlike all the other romance options, Hans gets an almost excessive amount of time to shine throughout the game and is a well-developed character even before it starts. Seeing a romance blossom between characters that already have so much history isn’t a regular occurrence in gaming, making it one of the most interesting options in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
