Kindom Come: Deliverance 2 Has Been Reimagined With An Isometric Camera, And It Looks Fantastic

Summary

  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has been reimagined with an isometric view, shared by user Merinid.
  • The 45-second clip showcases Henry of Skalitz navigating Kuttenberg in a comedic and intriguing manner.
  • Despite the unlikely use of an isometric view in future Kingdom Come games, the reimagined version is compelling and well-received.

Over the past few years, the isometric camera angle has made a strong comeback, if it was ever absent. Baldur’s Gate 3 represents the epitome of this trend, but games such as Hades, Disco Elysium, and Path of Exile 2 have all skillfully employed it.

One game that arguably didn’t require a top-down, isometric viewpoint was the early Game of the Year frontrunner, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. However, this hasn’t stopped one enthusiastic player from reimagining it in an isometric style, with stunning outcomes.

I Now Want To Play An Isometric Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s new look was first shared on the game’s subreddit by user Merinid.

The 45-second clip shows protagonist Henry of Skalitz getting up to his usual nonsense, except this time, the camera is looking over his shoulder. The clip is primarily set in the city of Kuttenberg, with Henry paroling the mud-strewn streets, taking part in fights with the city’s guards and residents, comically escaping from trouble, and stealthily choking out an unsuspecting denizen before he takes his leave, heads off on horseback and is hilariously thrown from his saddle.

This game offers a captivating, surprising perspective that I hadn’t realized I was craving until this moment.

Any future Kingdom Come: Deliverance game is highly unlikely to take cues from this camera; however, with the success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, a future sequel is highly likely. Henry’s voice actor, Tom McKay was recently asked how he’d feel if he wasn’t the protagonist in the series’ next title, saying, “We do have a very good sense of what’s happening next, obviously I can’t talk about any of that, but I think those decisions are not in our hands, and I am open to all ideas,” adding that he’s “happy to play this character for as long or as little as anybody wants me to.”

I now just really want a 15th-century Disco Elysium-style crime-solving RPG, with Henry and Hans and an isometric camera.
