As per reports from The Korea Times, actress Kim Min-hee is anticipating the birth of her first child with esteemed filmmaker Hong Sang-soo.

The initial report about the pregnancy emerged from the South Korean media outlet, Dispatch. According to their story, film director Hong Sang-soo and actress Kim Min-hee visited a maternity clinic for some tests. Dispatch also revealed that Kim Min-hee conceived with Hong Sang-soo’s child during the summer of 2024, but they chose to keep it private until recently. The couple is anticipated to welcome their baby in the spring of this year, as Kim Min-hee is said to be near the end of her pregnancy.

Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee’s romantic involvement sparked widespread interest in South Korea when they went public with their relationship in 2015. It was during the filming of Hong Sang-soo’s movie, Right Now, Wrong Then, in 2015, that they first crossed paths. According to media sources, since then, the pair have been involved in a romantic relationship outside of their respective marriages.

It appears that Kim Min-hee and he have been cohabiting since 2015. Despite Hong Sang-soo’s divorce filing from his spouse, whom he married in 1985, being made in December 2016, the divorce has not yet been finalized due to her lack of response to the settlement terms.

According to a report by Korea JoongAng Daily, the newborn will be officially recognized as an illegitimate child in Sang-soo’s household records. Yet, Kim Min-hee has the option to register the child under her own family registry if she chooses to do so.
