Killing Eve Prequel About Fiona Shaw’s Carolyn Martens in the Works at BBC

BBC collaborates with ZDF on the creation of the upcoming “Honey,” a prequel to “Killing Eve” that delves into the early life of Carolyn Martens, a role previously portrayed by Fiona Shaw in the series starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer. Her outstanding performance as an MI6 head earned her two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress.

The series titled “Honey” is categorized as a witty, dark spy drama. This six-part production comes from the same creators as Killing Eve (Sid Gentle Films). Emma Moran, known for her exceptional writing skills on Extraordinary, collaborates with Emme Hoy (Renegade Nell) in creating this show. Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris, and Moran serve as executive producers, with Christopher Hall handling the production.

Who is the Killing Eve prequel about?

1982, East Berlin. At the ripe age of 24, Marta, a covert MI6 agent, finds herself ensnared in a dangerous web. With adversaries lurking at every corner and her cover always on the brink of exposure by Friedrich Bauman, the newly appointed Stasi Counter Espionage chief, she treads carefully to stay hidden. But when she crosses paths with Aaron Neeland, a dashing yet reckless CIA operative, her heart becomes entangled in a tumultuous love triangle amidst the icy tension of the Cold War. The fear of being strangled or imprisoned seems insignificant compared to the terrifying prospect of succumbing to love.

In the thrilling world of Killing Eve, I found myself stepping into the shoes of Eve Polastri, an MI5 officer who finds herself drawn into the enigmatic life of a notorious assassin named Villanelle, brilliantly played by Jodie Comer. Her unique understanding of female killers earned her a spot in Carolyn Martens’ clandestine division within MI6, specifically created to track down Villanelle. As our dance of cat and mouse unfolded, an unexpected obsession began to grow between us.
