Kid Roasted by John Cena on WWE RAW Speaks Out: ‘He’s Still My Hero’

Last week at WWE RAW, John Cena took on a villainous role and sparked a viral sensation by mocking a young spectator. As the show started in Brussels, Belgium, he was met with deafening jeers from the crowd.

At WWE Elimination Chamber: Toronto, Cena stunned viewers as he assaulted Cody Rhodes and transformed into a villain for the first time in twenty years. During his entrance at WWE RAW, spectators reacted with numerous boos directed towards him.

In response, Cena asserted that the fans had been manipulating him into acting as their puppet, making him endure everything with a forced smile. He emphasized that he was neither a good guy (babyface) nor a bad guy (heel), but simply a human being who had been mistreated by them for many years. He unequivocally stated that they had gained nothing from him in return.

As I pounded through the arena, my eyes locked onto a passionate fan in the crowd who screamed, “I admire you!” I couldn’t help but acknowledge their presence, but I had to set things straight. “What have any of you ever truly done for me?” I challenged the cheering audience. “We’re stuck in an unhealthy, damaging relationship,” I continued, pointing at the enthusiastic kid who was still waving his sign. And with that, I declared my intent to walk away from this toxic bond, regardless of whether they accepted it or not.

The individual shared, “Ever since I was four years old, I’ve been an ardent fan of John Cena. For the past ten years, he’s been my role model and my most admired superstar. I shelled out money to watch him perform. When he singled me out, it filled me with pride that he pointed at me because I didn’t expect him to speak to me. I realized he said something negative and dysfunctional, but given his character as a ‘heel’, I can understand it. For me, John Cena remains my hero.” [Credit: Sports Illustrated]

Even though Cena publicly criticized him, the boy continues to view him as his idol, understanding that Cena’s behavior is just part of his role as a villain in their shared world (of wrestling).
