Kickboxer 4K Release Date Set for 35th Anniversary SteelBook

As a lifelong martial arts enthusiast who grew up watching Jean-Claude Van Damme kick some serious butt in the original Kickboxer back in the late 80s, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming 4K release! The movie’s gritty action and intense fighting scenes have been etched into my memory since I first saw it on VHS.

To celebrate its 35th anniversary, Lionsgate has revealed that the highly anticipated 4K release of the classic martial arts film “Kickboxer,” featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme, will be available soon.

In the movie’s summary, Eric Sloane, an American kickboxing champion, travels to Thailand with his brother Kurt, aiming to outmatch the Eastern masters in their own sport. His adversary is the relentless Thai champion, Tong Po, who not only defeats Eric but also leaves him paralyzed for life. Enraged, Kurt seeks vengeance. Following a rigorous training session in traditional kickboxing from master Xian Chow, Kurt confronts Tong. Their fierce battle, driven by passion, power, and revenge, will result in only one victor remaining.

When is the Kickboxer 4K release date?

Starting on December 3, you’ll be able to buy the Kickboxer movie in a 4K Steelbook edition at WalMart for $34.99. This is the first time it will be available for purchase. Earlier this year, a Blu-ray version of the Kickboxer SteelBook was released, featuring a similar design to the upcoming 4K release.

The movie was helmed by David Worth based on a screenplay penned by Glenn A. Bruce. Dennis Alexio portrayed Picasso Trigger, while Dennis Chan took on the role of The Man with the Iron Fists; Haskell Anderson starred in A Civil Action and Rochelle Ashana played Carjack. In spite of unfavorable critiques, this 1989 production garnered approximately $50 million globally, surpassing its estimated budget of $2.7 million.
