Key WWE Figures on Leave: What’s Happening Behind the Scenes?

As a devoted WWE fan with over two decades of fandom under my belt, I must admit that the recent news about Bruce Prichard and Michael Hayes taking temporary leave from WWE has left me somewhat concerned. These two veterans have been instrumental in shaping the narrative and creative direction of the promotion for years, and their absence is certainly felt.

Recent reports reveal that key figures on WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H’s team are currently on leave. Triple H assumed the role of Chief Content Officer after Vince McMahon stepped away from the promotion.

McMahon’s surprising departure was preceded by a controversy over secret settlement payouts. After a brief return to WWE in 2023, McMahon’s reappearance was cut short when former employee Janel Grant alleged sexual misconduct against him. This accusation led to legal action, compelling McMahon to resign from the board and sell his remaining stocks.

Since Vince McMahon stepped down, Triple H has assumed creative leadership and introduced notable transformations within the company. Over recent years, fans have observed enhancements in WWE’s content quality, leading to more compelling narratives, increased television viewership, and improved audience turnout at events.

Triple H heads up a group that includes veteran WWE staff member Bruce Prichard and Michael Hayes. Notably, Prichard is the Executive Director for both RAW and SmackDown within WWE. Moreover, Hayes holds an essential position in WWE’s creative department, serving as Vice President of creative writing & booking and a senior producer.

According to recent updates, both Prichard and Hayes, who have spent considerable time in the professional wrestling business, are currently away from their roles within the promotion.

Bruce Prichard & Michael Hayes take temporary leave from WWE

According to wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, both Bruce Prichard and Michael Hayes are currently away from WWE on an extended break. The length of their absence appears to be undetermined at this time. Prichard’s leave is due to a pressing family matter, while Hayes is taking some personal time off.

Meltzer added that even though key figures are on leave simultaneously, their absences aren’t directly linked. This isn’t indicative of an attempt to replace the older generation in promotions. Although no significant changes seem imminent, some might assume Prichard and Hayes will reclaim their positions soon.
