Kevin Feige Has a 10-Year Plan for the X-Men’s Future in the MCU

Kevin Feige has a 10-year plan for the X-Men following the two upcoming Avengers movies.

In May 2026, we’ll witness the arrival of Avengers: Doomsday, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars in the year 2027. At present, specific storylines for these films are kept confidential. However, it is anticipated that both Doomsday and Secret Wars will mark the formal introduction of the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Screenwriter Michael Lesslie is currently working on the script for an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film following Avengers: Secret Wars. Meanwhile, it’s been disclosed that actor Ryan Reynolds is in preliminary phases of creating an X-Men storyline featuring Deadpool and a few additional characters.

What do we know about the X-Men’s future in the MCU?

As per a latest report from The Wall Street Journal, Feige has shared with his peers that he has a ten-year blueprint in place for the X-Men characters once they’ve been officially and appropriately integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It’s undecided at the moment whether the upcoming cast will be entirely fresh or if some previous X-Men actors will take significant roles moving forward. However, it’s worth mentioning that mutants have previously appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

In addition, it’s common knowledge that several stars who were once part of the X-Men team will make appearances in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday. This includes Kelsey Grammer as Hank McCoy/Beast, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Ian McKellen as Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto, Alan Cumming as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Raven Darkhölme/Mystique, James Marsden as Scott Summers/Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Remy LeBeau/Gambit. However, it’s uncertain at this point how significant their roles will be in Doomsday or if all these actors are also coming back for Secret Wars.

On May 1, 2026, Marvel Studios is set to unveil “Avengers: Doomsday” in theaters across the United States. Next, prepare for “Avengers: Secret Wars” on May 7, 2027.
