This decision was likely due to the underperformance of Chapter 1 at the box office, which earned only $33 million despite a budget of $50 million. As of now, there is no release date set for Chapter 2.

In May 2024, Chapter 3 started production, and it’s set to continue again in August. Costner intends to conclude Horizon: An American Saga by creating a fourth movie.
