Kevin Bacon details wife Kyra Sedgwick relationship

Kevin Bacon and his wife Kyra Sedgwick have been married for more than three decades, but their romance didn’t spark immediately. In a recent interview on The Drew Barrymore Show (aired on April 7), Bacon shared thoughts about their unconventional initial meeting.

The formal encounter between them occurred on the film set of Lemon Sky in 1988, but Sedgwick claimed they met long before that. At that point, Bacon was only 19 and involved in Off-Broadway performances, while Sedgwick aspired to be an actress at age 12. Her mother, knowing about Bacon’s theater work, took her to watch one of his plays, marking their first encounter.

Following the performance, Sedgwick noticed him at a sandwich shop and praised his acting. Bacon then revealed, “A 12-year-old girl approached me and said, ‘Hi, I enjoyed your play.’ As she shared, I thanked her with, ‘Thanks, sweetie,’ which might come off as a bit chauvinistic.

In a later instance during the filming of Lemon Sky, Sedgwick brought up their earlier encounter and asked if he recalled meeting her many years ago. The actor replied, “Yes, I do recall that,” to which she responded with surprise. However, he then admitted, “No, actually I don’t.” Bacon humorously concluded, “So it seems she didn’t take a liking to me. It wasn’t love at first sight.

Initially meeting on an uncomfortable note, they eventually formed a bond while working on the set. As the year 1988 drew to a close, their relationship evolved into marriage. Together, they welcomed two kids named Travis and Sosie into their family.
