Summary
- Kendrick Lamar’s GNX is now the longest-running No. 1 album on Billboard’s Top Rap Albums chart at 22 weeks
- This surpasses Pop Smoke’s previous record of 21 weeks
- This record follows Lamar and SZA’s “Grand National Tour” becoming the highest-grossing co-headlining tour in history
Kendrick Lamar continues to break records with GNX achieving yet another Billboard chart feat.
The album currently holds the longest streak as No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rap Albums chart, spanning a period of 22 consecutive weeks. It surpasses the record previously set by the late Pop Smoke, whose album “Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon” was at the top spot for 21 weeks after his passing.
In just 96 days, GNX broke Travis Scott’s streaming record for the album “UTOPIA,” surpassing it in less time – originally achieved in 114 days. Moreover, GNX became the first hip-hop album of 2025 to sell a million copies in the United States.
The news came not long after Lamar and SZA’s “Grand National Tour” broke records as the highest-earning joint tour ever. It generated a staggering $254.6 million USD and sold approximately 1.1 million tickets from 23 shows, with the pair planning to visit Europe, the UK, and Australia later in the year.
