During an interview on Kylie Kelce’s podcast “Not Gonna Lie” (as reported by People), Kelly Clarkson shared insights about her historic win on American Idol in 2002, which later became a significant part of pop culture. However, according to Clarkson, there were quite a few individuals within the music industry who initially weren’t keen on the idea of a show like American Idol.

Clarkson pointed out that she had no one by her side when she won, and revealed that individuals within the industry were rather unkind to her. Interestingly enough, these very same people (whom she declined to identify) eventually took on roles as coaches on The Voice.

Clarkson stated, ‘I stood alone as the victor,’ and added, ‘Let me clarify, it wasn’t easy. In fact, it was incredibly challenging.’ She continued, ‘There were people who were downright unkind. Some of these cruel individuals even became coaches on The Voice. Yes, you got it right! They detested talent shows, yet they ended up on the very show I won.’
