Keanu Reeves on John Wick 5: ‘I Don’t Know if My Knees Can Do It’

As a long-time fan of the John Wick franchise, I must admit that hearing Keanu Reeves expressing doubts about his physical capabilities to continue the action-packed saga is a bit concerning. After all, we’ve seen him defy age and gravity in the past four installments, leaving us breathless with each fight scene.

Keanu Reeves wants to make John Wick 5; however, he’s unsure if his “knees can do it.”

Initially, Reeves portrayed the main character in the action film “John Wick” (released in 2014), which was overseen by director Chad Stahelski. Later, he repeated this role in three subsequent installments of the series: “John Wick: Chapter 2” (2017), “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” (2019), and “John Wick: Chapter 4” (scheduled for release in 2023).

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but ponder over the intriguing speculations swirling around the potential resurrection of Keanu Reeves’ character in John Wick: Chapter 5. The cliffhanger at the end of Chapter 4 has left fans like me eagerly awaiting any official confirmation.

In an interview with CBS News through Variety, Reeves discussed the possibility of him reprising his role in a potential fifth installment of John Wick.

What did Keanu Reeves say about John Wick 5?

Reeves explained, “It’s not always a definite no.” As for his current condition, his knees are protesting, “I can’t take on another John Wick anymore,” but his heart desires it. However, he’s unsure if his knees will be up to the task.

Previously, Reeves has expressed similar sentiments. In March 2023, he told Entertainment Weekly, “I suppose I’ll need to stick with ‘never say never.’ I wouldn’t make a John Wick film without Chad Stahelski. We’ll have to see what that might look like. For me, it feels right for John Wick to find peace.

Although it’s uncertain if John Wick 5 with Reeves will materialize, it’s been confirmed that Reeves’ character will feature in the forthcoming spin-off film titled “From the World of John Wick: Ballerina.” Directed by Len Wiseman, this movie stars Ana de Armas, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, and the late Lance Reddick in his final screen performance. The release date for “From the World of John Wick: Ballerina” is set for June 6, 2025, in US theaters.

In addition, a prequel TV show titled “The Continental: From the Universe of John Wick” debuted on Peacock in 2023, and Keanu Reeves was not featured in it.
