Ke Huy Quan Plays a Serial Killer in New Horror Movie About a Dog, Lili Reinhart Also Cast

In the upcoming horror film titled “Bad Boy,” Ke Huy Quan will portray a chilling character, a serial killer, as the story unfolds from the point of view of a canine protagonist.

In a simpler and more conversational manner: Quan was awarded the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor last year (2022) for his performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Now, you can catch him in a brand new action movie called Love Hurts, where he stars alongside Ariana DeBose. This film premieres in U.S. theaters this coming Friday.

By the given deadline, Quan has been chosen for the role of Cameron, a serial killer, in the upcoming genre film “Bad Boy” from Black Bear. This movie is directed by Jacob Chase. Lili Reinhart will also be part of the cast, portraying one of Cameron’s possible victims whom Gary, the dog, attempts to rescue.

The summary for the movie goes like this: “Gary is a cherished pet belonging to Cameron (Ke Huy Quan). He enjoys his daily treats and affectionate belly rubs, living a blissful life. However, Gary isn’t permitted in the basement, and even if he could go there, he can’t open doors. Unbeknownst to Gary, he might be the sole hope for a girl (Lili Reinhart) who is confined in the basement.

What else do we know about Bad Boy with Ke Huy Quan?

Casting is currently underway for Gary, who will be a Terrier.

The movie will be brought to you by the team of Dave Caplan, Adam Hendricks, and Greg Gilreath as producers, with the screenplay penned by Travis Braun. We anticipate starting filming in August 2025 right here in beautiful Canada.

As a dog enthusiast, I’ve had enough of watching heart-wrenching scenes in horror movies where our faithful companions meet an untimely end. Dogs are not just pets; they are our cherished friends who deserve more than just a supporting role. It’s high time we saw a horror film that flips the script, where the dog is the hero. “Bad Boy” is a story about loyalty, instinct, and the extraordinary bond between humans and dogs. This innovative, grounded, and deeply suspenseful take on a horror thriller will be like nothing you’ve seen before. I’m excited to join forces with Ke and Lili to bring these unique characters to life!
