Kawasaki has unveiled an exciting fresh phase in personal transportation through the debut of the CORLEO – a robotic, equine-like, all-terrain vehicle intended to deliver the excitement of motorcycling on rough, natural landscapes. Crafted with four independently movable legs and sophisticated rider-tracking mechanisms, CORLEO combines Kawasaki’s motorcycle heritage with robotics for an unprecedented outdoor experience.
Designed for navigating tough terrains, CORLEO’s leg-based mobility system boasts power from drive units in every limb, ensuring superior balance and cushioning effects. Unlike traditional designs where rear legs follow the front ones, CORLEO’s swing-arm back legs operate independently, adjusting to bumps and making the ride smoother. This allows riders to keep a forward-facing stance, whether they’re ascending steps or traversing uneven ground.
In the core of CORLEO, there’s a compact 150cc hydrogen engine, which produces electricity to drive its robotic legs. This hydrogen is kept in a container positioned at the rear, providing an environmentally friendly energy source without sacrificing performance. Every hoof features non-slip rubber pads that provide a firm grip on surfaces ranging from rugged trails to open grasslands.
The control of this ride is completely intuitive, handled by weight shifts and handlebars, while adjustable stirrups maintain a comfortable, natural riding position. An advanced dashboard delivers real-time information such as hydrogen levels, navigation assistance, and center of gravity tracking. For night rides, the system can project guidance markers onto the ground, improving visibility and safety.
