KATSEYE fans, the wait is finally over! Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE is now streaming on Netflix, and in this docuseries, we find out just how the six supremely talented young women came to make up the global girl group. It wasn’t an easy process, but these young women worked hard and proved themselves to be ready for stardom.
The prolonged selection procedure initiated by holding auditions worldwide. Over 120,000 applicants were considered, and eventually, HYBE and Geffen Records reduced their pool of candidates to just twenty young female hopefuls. These aspirants underwent intense training in the hope of clinching a place in HYBE and Geffen’s debut global girl group. However, since there were only six vacancies available, these record labels needed to further trim down the list.
They unveiled a survival reality show titled The Debut: Dream Academy. In this program, 20 hopefuls engaged in various tasks, with evaluations coming from executives at HYBE and Geffen Records, as well as the audience. This elite selection process led to the elimination of 10 contestants, leaving behind 10. Subsequently, these 10 finalists showcased their talents during a live finale event in Los Angeles.
