Kanye West, who now goes by Ye, and Drake have a long history spanning decades that includes mutual admiration and the occasional disagreement. It’s possible their ongoing conflict may reach its conclusion in 2025. Most recently, the artist known for “Power” shared his positive views on Drake on the platform X (previously Twitter).
What did Kanye West say about Drake?
Kanye West recently went on a series of posts on social media platform X and expressed his thoughts about Drake. He admitted that in the past, feelings of jealousy had controlled him, but now he acknowledges and appreciates Drake’s talent. In one of those posts (which was later removed), Ye wrote, “I admire Drake. I want it known at my funeral, please say a few words about me to him.
Apart from that, he shared that he had watched a video featuring Drake. Excitedly, the “Lift Off” artist exclaimed in caps, “I came across a video where Drake was giving a tour of his home, showcasing his collection of rhyme books. If only I could have witnessed and retained this when my envy took control!
As a gaming enthusiast, I’d put it this way: In the world of video games, we sometimes make mistakes, let our competitive spirits cloud our judgment. Looking back, I admit I regret feeding my jealousy in certain situations. But here’s the thing, I’ve always admired Drake, and if given the chance, I’d want him to be the keynote speaker at my virtual game tournament (or funeral, depending on how you look at it).

Drake’s relationship with Ye (Kanye West) dates back to the early phase of “Donda” artist’s career. Back in 2009, the Canadian musician expressed admiration for Ye in an MTV interview. In his own words, “Before I even had a chance to meet him, Kanye West significantly influenced what I do musically. We have always made sure to listen to and appreciate Kanye’s music deeply.
Upon examining the samples, it was discovered that his muse originated from there, as his musical acumen is unparalleled – he possesses an exceptional ability to identify exceptional music that isn’t his own. His skill lies in effectively incorporating outstanding sounds and music into his work.
In a turn of events, Drake was highly commended by Ye for his lyrics on Young Money’s “Every Girl.” On Kanye University’s blog, the 47-year-old artist expressed his appreciation by saying: “Drake asked, ‘Do you like girls like I do? Les-bi-honest!!!!!’. In my opinion, this is the best line of the year so far!
In the last few years, despite their long-standing admiration for each other, a falling out between the duo seemed more unavoidable. At “Red Button,” Drake criticized Ye with the lyrics, “Whenever you needed me to elevate, I never hesitated / Every time Zuma called a truce, he had my ego inflated / Believing we’d finally resolve our issues and reach levitation / But then I realized that everything was premeditated.
In the year 2024, I struck a response against Drizzy on the remixed version of Future and Metro Boomin’s collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, titled “Like That.” This track, exclusively available on my website, seems to subtly address Drake’s business dealings, particularly his licensing agreement with Lucian Grainge’s Universal Music Group.
