Rishab Shetty has several upcoming projects, one of which is a prequel to his award-winning film “Kantara,” titled “Kantara Chapter 1.” A significant portion of this movie is being shot in a forest region of Karnataka, but unfortunately, the production has run into trouble and sparked controversy. The local residents have lodged a complaint against the team behind the film.
According to an article in India Today, residents, including a previous member of the local government, have leveled accusations against the movie crew and team for causing damage to the natural environment and forest region surrounding Gavigudda, which is near the village of Heruru in Karnataka.
A report was filed at the Yesalur police station, alleging that the filmmakers and team exceeded the boundaries of their permitted shooting location, encroaching on the core forest instead of just the designated grazing area.
Reports have emerged about the deployment of explosives during the gunfire incident, causing upset and worry among locals due to concerns over potentially harming native wildlife that inhabit the surrounding forest region as their habitat.
Sanna Swamy, a member of the Zilla Panchayat, has made a statement about the issue at hand, disclosing that the locals are facing recurring issues with elephant attacks due to intrusive filming activities in the region.
Furthermore, the India Today report additionally mentions a heightened dispute between the movie’s team and the locals, as the film crew encountered opposition when they were questioned about the use of explosives within the woodland region during the filming of Kantara Chapter 1.
The argument led to a severe injury for a young resident from around here, who was assaulted by someone on the team. He needed immediate medical attention at the hospital.
The community has expressed their displeasure about the filming and asked for the production to be moved to a different site entirely, while also requesting strong penalties for the crew due to their unruly conduct.
