The film “Kannappa,” starring Vishnu Manchu, is set to premiere in cinemas on June 27, 2025. In anticipation of the fantasy movie’s debut, the Andhra Pradesh government has recently increased its ticket prices.
According to reports from various reliable sources like Aakashavani, there’s an upcoming increase of Rs 50 in Kannappa movie ticket prices. This price rise will apply across all cinema formats – single screens and multiplexes – for a duration of ten days within the state.
Previously, the administration announced an increase in ticket prices for the movie “Kuberaa”, starring Dhanush and Nagarjuna Akkineni, that was scheduled to release on June 20, 2025.
For those unfamiliar, the movie titled “Kannappa,” featuring Vishnu Manchu, is an upcoming fantasy production that’s inspired by the Kannappa tale from Hindu mythology. This story follows Thinnandu, a skeptic man and hunter, who eventually transforms into a devoted devotee of Lord Shiva as his life unfolds.
In addition to the main star, this movie showcases popular figures such as Prabhas, Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar, and Kajal Aggarwal making brief appearances. Furthermore, it includes Mohan Babu, R. Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Kaushal Manda, Rahul Madhav, Devaraj, and others in secondary roles.
According to an old story we often hear, Kannappa is said to have been a devotee deeply rooted in the Saiva Siddhanta faith, who held a strong bond with the temple of Srikalahasti located in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
As a dedicated follower of tradition who once lived as a hunter, I chanced upon a Siva Lingam in the wilderness. Overwhelmed by my reverence for Lord Shiva, I began offering the idol I had found not only water but also meat from the game I hunted. Though my devotion was unconventional, it seemed to please the deity, as I was rewarded with His blessings.
In my fervent enthusiasm, as the tale unfolded, I found myself prepared to bestow one of my eyes upon the divine being, as a humble offering. Just when I was about to make this selfless act with my other eye, the mighty Lord Shiva stepped in and halted me.
In the upcoming film, various actors are expected to make brief appearances in supporting roles, but Prabhas has been chosen to portray Rudra, a character based on an ancient Rigvedic deity. The producers have revealed that Prabhas will be featured for approximately 45 minutes of screen time.
On the professional side of things, Prabhas will be seen as the main character in a film titled The Raja Saab. This upcoming production, which falls under the genre of horror-comedy, is scheduled for release on December 5, 2025.
